I'm finally getting around to finishing this neck with a v-joint that's been patiently waiting for me to carve it for the last 6 months. I would love to see how others interpret this classic and elegant joint... if you've done one please post it!

Here's one of mine. Carving the volute is one of the most pleasurable parts of the build for me.Image

I should mention that I use a one piece neck. My apologies if you were just looking for real V joints.

Very cool guys... there's an awful lot of variety in just these first 4. Keep em coming!

A Lacote style V head, quite long and pointy:

. . . and a Panormo type that I didn't follow too closely.

That's pretty great. Tell me, have you ever veneered one of these 19th century-style necks?

I've veneered quite a few James. Both in Ebony and Maple. When you veneer the back of a Neck it really seems to increase it's stiffness, even if it's in a veneer like Maple.

I've been trying to get the nerve up to try one of these, but I'm not quite there yet.
Get job everyone!
